My name is Brian Foster, a type I diabetic for 28 yrs. I work with CWD's elementary programs, a group I absolutely love since I was diagnosed at around the same age as the kids I'm with. I'm an exercise junkie and have run a handful of marathons and other endurance events – I started running as a kid and never stopped. I think exercise is the primary reason I've done as well as I have with diabetes.
Other details? Well, married with two dogs - no kids, the dogs are quite enough right now. My better half, Tricia, is also running the marathon (and her sister too! So this event really is a family affair!) Ella, my niece will also be there – she's only five but she knows I have diabetes and that it hasn't stopped me from doing anything I want. It's funny how a kid that young ‘gets it', it's a real message that our teens are going to magnify a thousand times over when they cross those finish lines on race weekend.
I can't tell you all how glad I am we're all doing this, and I can't wait to hear how we all progress along the way.
