Back to Team CWD Team CWD

I am excited to be a part of this team and participate in my first CWD event. It is cool to hear the diversity that we have amongst us. My name is Chris Jarvis and I co-founded Insulindependence with Peter Nerothin who is also on TeamCWD! Anyways, Jeff Hitchcock helped publicize Insulindependence's first big step in mentoring youth back in 2005 for a teen expedition to Peru which was pretty cool!

I am a rower, so yes there are other cross trainers amongst the group. I train at a very high level, about 5+ hours per day and 6 days per week. I have competed in many international races, including the summer Olympic Games in Athens, and won a Gold in the the PanAm Games in Rio in the men's pair.

Running-wise, I have run 6 marathons, with my fastest time being 3:09. I hope to break into 2:50min marathon in Disney.

I offer myself for questions and dialogue to the team; like Bill King, I am passionate about exercise/sport with diabetes and managing it with stability for the most fun and best performance. I've given keynote lectures on the subject at the Canadian Diabetes Association Conference, as well as medical colleges and hospitals across Canada and the US. I now share my passion for diabetes and exercise online at www.ichallengediabetes.org.

Nice to be a part of the team and I wish those well that are starting on a new training program! A program is the biggest part of setting a rhythm that can allow you to accomplish things that you never dreamed. The greatest challenges in life reveal the greatest benefits!
