Advocate Advocate Advocate! I am a huge supporter of anything related to diabetes. I am a firm believer in the philosophy of do what you're good at to further diabetes, and support everyone else in their endeavors to fulfill a vision of making life with diabetes just a little bit easier.
I am an Animas 2020 pumper and I have a One Touch Ultra Smart for daily use, Ultra 2 on the handlebars of my road bike, Ultra Mini for running. I met Bill King when I ran Disney in 2002 and finished :23 shy of breaking 3:00. hmmmmm.
I believe involvement is the key to continued development of diabetes organizations. We, especially adults with diabetes, have an obligation to the "Children With Diabetes" to be a role model, be involved, and take advantage of the opportunities we have available to us. No single endeavor or event is about one person with diabetes. When you have this disease, you represent 24 million people with this disease. Goals are for individuals, visions are for the masses, keep challenging yourselves with the vision of a benefit for all in mind.
I join Peter Nerothin in the management of Insulindependence and the development of Triabetes, a documentary/outreach project that's following a group of type 1 athletes through Ironman training in 2008. Brian Foster and Anne Findlay are members of the Triabetes Project, and have diverse memberships throughout the diabetes world, and are running Disney as well.
