  Back Home AACE Award

At its 2002 annual meeting, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists presented the Eugene T. Davidson, MD, Award for Public Service to Jeff Hitchcock for his work on the Children with Diabetes web site. In presenting the award, AACE President Rhoda Cobin, MD, noted the positive impact that the web site has had on the lives of people around the world. The text from the award presentation read:

Mr. Jeffrey S. Hitchcock will be presented with the Eugene T. Davidson, MD, Award for Public Service. After his 24 month old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, Mr. Hitchcock laid the foundation for the Children with Diabetes website, which was officially launched in 1995. With its focus on maintaining an active online community, Children with Diabetes has become one of the largest diabetes-related websites in the world. The website's Diabetes Team has published answers to thousands of questions, and encourages interaction by featuring chat rooms, message boards, mailing lists, and online polls. The site provides immeasurable support to those strugglng to care for their children with diabetes.
