Youth Program of Events and Sessions
Thursday Evening, January 1, 2009
7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Reception on the Tiki Terrace
Join the exhibitors and other conference attendees outdoors for yummy hors d'oeuvres and an opportunity to see what the exhibitors and sponsors have to share.


Friday, January 2, 2009
8:00 a.m. Breakfast buffet
Please be prompt; the food is out for 45 minutes
9:00 - 10:40 a.m.


Beverage Break
10:40 - 11:10 a.m.

11:10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Sessions for individual age groups:
  • Childcare: Ages 3-5 (potty-trained)
  • Elementary: Ages 6-9
  • Tweens: Ages 10-12
  • Teens: Ages 13-17

Elementary: Morning sessions right after breakfast will include icebreakers, beach games, and fun exercise with Harold! After the morning break, you will have a Scavenger Hunt with the exhibitors and around the Resort property (in groups, with CWD staff)!

Tweens: Morning sessions right after breakfast will include fun icebreakers and some great discussion with Richard Rubin and CWD staff. After the morning break, you will have exercise and fun with Harold, talk with Tricia about nutrition to support that exercise, and then you will meet some very cool athletes!

Teens: Morning sessions for teens will include an icebreaker, beach volleyball and soccer (weather permitting), and Girl Talk/Boy Talk with teen leaders and conference faculty.

12:30 Box lunch provided. Pick it up and head to the beach!
1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Come and enjoy a day at the beach Marco Island style!
The recreation staff will line the beach with flags, umbrellas and place lounge chairs out to set just the right tone for our group to kick back and relax. For the active parents and kids, we will offer a volleyball court, footballs, Frisbees, 4 kayaks, 2 pedal boats, 5 water hammocks and 1 hobie sailboat.
6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Dinner in Islands A and B


Saturday, January 3, 2009

Sessions for individual age groups:

  • Teens: Ages 13-17

Elementary: Right after breakfast, the kids will meet some very cool athletes and then spend some time making kites. After morning beverage break, the kids and staff will have discussion groups and then go out on the beach to fly the kites!

Tweens: Right after breakfast, the kids will meet and walk with their staff down to the beach to board The Calusa Spirit. This is a catamaran that will take the Tween group to Shell Island for a morning of some very fun sailing and shelling! Beverages and snacks will be served on board. Plenty of staff and at least 2 CDEs will be with the group.

Teens: After breakfast, the teen group will have a discussion with Nicole Johnson, Miss America 1999… and then head outdoors for sports on the beach! Later in the morning, the teens will meet with Dr. Bob to discuss real-life stress situations for teenagers and some positive ways of dealing with those situations.

12:30 Box lunch provided. Pick it up and head to the beach!

5:45 to 9:00 p.m. Dinner and DJ on the Beach
