Special Guest Sebastien Sasseville
Photo Born in St-Patrice-de-Beaurivage in Quebec, Sebastien made Vancouver his new home in 2003 after obtaining a degree in Public Relations. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2002, the high altitude climber and world adventurer has ever since been an advocate for the disease and has raised awareness about type one diabetes all across Canada.

In 2005, Sebastien took with him a group of 9 teens to the summit of the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro. The ambitious project turned into a world premiere, inspired hundreds of thousands of people and raised more than $50,000 for research.

In 2006, Sasseville became the first Canadian with diabetes to successfully climb Peak Lenin, a 7134m hill in Kyrgyzstan. After a rather eventful climb on Lenin, several upcoming trainings that will take him on some of the highest and most challenging peaks of the world, the young climber is planning a first attempt on Mount Everest in 2008 and hopes to become the first Canadian with diabetes to summit the highest mountain on the planet. His travels also include countries from all five continents.

Sebastien Sasseville is a powerful and charismatic speaker who uncovers hidden dimensions of diabetes and offers a journey that will take you back to the very first step of its treatment, and arguably the only cure: the acceptance.
