Sunday – always a day of tearful goodbyes, hugs, thank-you's, pictures, more hugs. Happiness… for having been in this place for this week with these 3,200 people, and sharing the magic that is Friends for Life.
A few last minute "thank you's" from Laura:
- To the CWD Set-Up Crew – You guys are the ones who show up early to get this whole event off the ground. We couldn't do a conference without you! Thanks for getting there on Sunday and getting immediately to work. It was really hot, but really fun – right?
- To Julia Mattingly and Jo Stroud – as always, you have Registration down to a science. Well-done once again.
- To the room captains and the room helpers – great job; professional and efficient. I know the parents appreciated that they could be summoned at any time if their child needed them.
- To Ashley Head – Thanks for coming across the ocean – for a fourth time – to make the exhibit hall run seamlessly. And thanks to apprentice Chad for all of the elbow grease as well!
- To Dr. Szirth and team – Thank you for donating a week of your time doing retinal screenings for our kids – we so appreciate how much you care about our children!
- To Scott and Heather Kyllo – I remember the "old days" when I used to try to do all the computer stuff and sponsorship signs myself. It wasn't pretty. I don't know how we ever did a conference without you. So glad you make the trip each year from BC, Canada. Thank you.
- To Mike Schurig – No one has an inkling how much time goes into the FFL menus and carb counts. Great job, on to year 14 back at Disney. Mike Bassett – thanks for being Mike's right hand this year. You may now burn your 300 page binder of BEOs.
- To all of the teens and young adults who spent time with the younger FFL'ers – you guys rock. So very proud of you for reaching out. Keep the faith. You ARE the future of CWD!
- To the First-Timers Team – I had the pleasure of watching new FFL participants walk down that long ballroom corridor from the escalator – and seeing their faces light up as they came to your welcome station first. What a difference you make.
- To our exhibitors – Thanks for being with us this week to share your products and talk to our families. Quite a few of you were brand new to FFL – thanks for coming! And to those who've been with us before – it's great to have you back.
- To our sponsors - Each year, your support enables the Friends for Life gathering to happen in a bigger and better way. Thank you so much for believing in us. And thank you for your fun spirit at this event.
- To Sam, Marissa, and all of our CWD kids and sibs – As always, thanks for being the inspiration.
See you next year – Friends for Life 2013 – Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, July 9-14, 2013!
