Shane Board was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of ten. He struggled to come to terms with it, but has now turned his life around and uses his talent to raise money for research into diabetes. He was honoured to be a speaker at the national Diabetes UK conference in Nottingham, where he talked about how he copes with his diabetes and how it fits in with his busy lifestyle. He is now 20 and plans to dedicate as much time as possible to raising the much-needed funds for research towards a cure and for a better future with diabetes.
Shane has performed all over the south of UK in a number of different venues. He has done a number of TV programmes and commercials as well as professional pantomime and a feature film. Shane was the body double for Harry Potter in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Before his performing career, he was a national karate champion and southern region champion on many occasions. Shane is a spotlight registered actor. Shane volunteers time with INPUT, a voluntary national support group and information centre for insulin pump therapy. INPUT works to raise awareness of Insulin Pump Therapy amongst people with diabetes.
