Activities and discussion groups specifically for teens (ages 13+) will be included. These sessions are for teens with type 1 diabetes as well as their teen siblings and friends. Everyone is welcome! Teens should simply report to the Teen Room (Balmoral, first floor) each day at 9:00. Teens will be going outdoors on Saturday and off-site on Sunday (field trip). A signed permission slip and waiver must be completed at registration in order for teens to participate.
Activities and discussion groups specifically for tweens (ages 10-12) will be offered on the same schedule as the adult sessions with the same breaks for snacks and meals. These sessions are for tweens with type 1 diabetes as well as their tween siblings and friends. Tweens should simply report to the designated Tween Room (Balmoral 2nd floor) each day at 9:00. Tweens will have plenty of outdoors time both Saturday and Sunday in Sports Central – so dress appropriately!
Programming for primary-age children (ages 6-9) will be fun and interactive. No "boring stuff" here! Sessions will run on the same schedule as the adults with the same breaks for snacks and meals. All school-age children are welcome. Outdoor time will be part of each day’s activities, so make sure your child is dressed appropriately in outdoor play clothes! Children should report each day to the designated Elementary Room (Beaumont Suite) at 9:00.
Childcare for children under age 6 will be available. Diabetes Educator Mary Babin will be the lead person for childcare and there will be plenty of support staff with childcare experience.
Please note that all children must be with their appropriate age group on Saturday and Sunday. The elementary program is for children ages 6-9; the tween program is for children ages 10-12, and the teen program is for ages 13-18. There is no 'skipping up' or 'skipping down.' This is per our insurance guidelines. No exceptions are allowed.
