Friends for Life: LA 2004 - Tuesday
Families and volunteers arrived at the hotel in droves on Tuesday and, by mid-afternoon, the pool was literally full of CWD kids having a great time and CWD moms and dads catching up with old friends while sipping on a cold beverage. By the evening, nearly 1,000 CWD participants were on site.
A Welcome Party and Volunteer Recognition was held poolside Tuesday night for those interested in getting together before the official opening of the conference. Purple volunteer shirts and assignments were handed out by Volunteer Coordinator Lauren Lanning, and last minute volunteer slots were filled by moms, dads and teens who happily donated their time. A huge thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers!
Meanwhile, in the Studio Suites area of the Sheraton, a handful of volunteers and teen IDYAs began setting up the Quilt for Life. It was a new endeavor for CWD - displaying the quilt vertically instead of laid out on the ground. The effect was stunning, and viewing the quilt as always was a very emotional experience.
