Over 1,500 people from 36 states and nine countries journeyed to Lake Buena Vista, Florida for our fourth annual conference, entitled Friends for Life 2003. The conference was held from July 9 to 12, 2003 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. Just like the past three years, kids who had never seen another person with diabetes found kindred spirits in blood glucose monitoring, pump boluses, infusion set insertions, and insulin injections. Parents, many for the first time, realized that their concerns and struggles were shared by hundreds of others. Health care professionals talked to families and kids, sharing guidance and experiences with families eager to learn. And our generous sponsors were overwhelmed as kids and parents visited their booths to learn about the very latest in diabetes care products. Six pump companies attended the conference, and four offered pump trials. Many families participated.
