Children with Diabetes Fun Run Sponsored by Novo Nordisk Meet at the Entrance to the Convention Center Run begins at 7:15 a.m. See you there!

CWD staff will have glucose meters available to check blood sugars in an emergency. Your child may bring their own meter to do blood glucose checks. CWD will not be responsible for lost kits, so please make sure your child's name and your phone number are in the kit. A Certified Diabetes Educator, sponsored by Smiths-Medical, will be available to help elementary kids as needed.

Kids' Icebreaker

Location: Meet in Palani Sailfish

Wow! Two hundred kids – your age – all in one place! How will you ever learn their names and faces? This is a great place to start. Plus it's really fun. Come join us!

Sports Central!
Sports VIPs: Chris Dudley, Jay Leeuwenburg
Location: Sports Central (Oceans Ballroom 1-4) - Meet in Palani Sailfish

NBA star Chris Dudley and NFL star Jay Leeuwenburg will spend this 75 minutes with kids who are interested in getting in some basketball and football practice with the pros. DESA volunteers will assist with the sports activities. Please make sure you are wearing appropriate clothing and footwear to play sports!

Exhibit Hall Scavenger Hunt
Elementary Staff
Meet in Palani Sailfish

This Scavenger Hunt is much different from last year's hunt. Kids will work in groups. They will be given a good-sized list of questions – some fairly easy, some fairly tricky – which the group needs to answer in the one hour time period. Got your tennies on? This is fast-paced and fun! Be sure to stay with your group leader!

Discussion Group for Kids with Type 1 Diabetes
Facilitators: Betty Brackenridge, Marissa Hitchcock, Malcolm Lazarow and Monica Lanning
Location: Palani Sailfish

Most people don't understand what it's like to have diabetes ... all the things you need to do and keep track of in order to stay healthy. There are some good things about having diabetes, too! You take good care of yourself, and you probably know more about your body and how to keep it healthy than most kids your age, right? Marissa and Monica are your group leaders. They both have diabetes. In fact, they've had it since they were very little. They understand what every day is like for you – and they'd love to talk with you about it! Come join them (and Betty Brackenridge, who is one of the best listeners in the world).

Siblings' Discussion Group
Facilitators: Sarah Lanning, Richard Rubin
Location: Walu Breakout Room

This is the opportunity for brothers and sisters of kids with type 1 diabetes to speak their mind. What are your challenges every day? What do you worry about? Is there anything that scares you? What would you like to change? What are you proud of? Join your buddies for some great discussion!

Indoor Games

For those who just need to be low-key and chill, join Gayle and CWD staff for some indoor games and "down time."
