Back to Friends for Life 2007 Conference Focus Groups and Sessions

CWD is pleased to announce a day of Focus Groups at the Friends for Life Conference. Focus groups will be held on Tuesday, July 10 and Wednesday, July 11, 2007. Note that we're also holding sessions focused on psychological issues on Wednesday.

What is a Focus Group?
A focus group is a small gathering of people with the purpose of discussing one particular topic or "focus." In our case, the focus groups will range from 6-50 people each, and may discuss a new product in development, a product already on the market (and the company wants feedback), a particular method of diabetes management ... or it may focus on a specific age group (i.e., how do teens feel about pumping or blood glucose testing?). We also have a series of sessions on Wednesday led by some of presenters who will focus on the emotional aspects of diabetes.

What is the Schedule?
Focus groups will be held at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. They will last 90 minutes each. Refreshments will be provided (snacks and beverages) during each meeting.

How do I sign up?
must currently be registered for the conference to sign up for a focus group. Any member of your family may participate. Children under 12 should not participate unless it is a focus group specifically for children, or for adults and children. You may participate in more than one focus group. To sign up, please send an email to Laura.Billetdeaux@childrenwithdiabetes.com and indicate:

If multiple members of your family would like to participate in focus groups, please indicate the above for each person. Otherwise, we don't know who wants to go to which session.

Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. Once a group is full, we will so indicate on this webpage.

For more information, call Laura Billetdeaux at 734-428-8265 (eastern time) during business hours M-F.

The current focus group schedule is:

Tuesday, July 10, 2007

5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Self Management of Blood Glucose in the Digital Age - A Proposed Solution Looking for Your Feedback
Location: Fiesta 10

A new company is creating the future of diabetes management with cutting edge solutions that dramatically improve quality of care for people with diabetes. The goal is to provide people real answers into how to effectively self-manage their blood glucose. This integrated solution will use a combination of new technologies including wireless communications and artificial intelligence to provide patients, caregivers, and their doctors new insight. The purpose of this session is to better understand the real needs of kids and their families around maintaining tight glycemic control. With the solution still in development, participants will be influencing product design, software development, and the suite of features that will be included. We are looking for people who can help us understand the realities of living with diabetes and will give us candid and honest feedback.
