Doug Burns is an international fitness consultant having guest spoken at national health forums, senate hearings, children's health camps and radio and television programs. He has competed for over twenty years as a strength and fitness athlete having won the Mr. USA, Mr. California and Mr. Universe titles. He's won six Powerlifting Championships and held Sate, Regional and American Records. Doug authored The Diabetes Antidote and appeared in numerous publications from Muscle & Fitness to The New York Times. He's also struggled through diabetes since he was seven years old and most recently with the headline police incident in Redwood City, California. "I cannot thank everyone enough for the support I received through this unfortunate situation. I owe a great deal of gratitude to many physicians and diabetes advocates. Jeff and the CWD team were quick to defend me and in doing so defended other children and adults who have had the misfortune of being penalized or worse for publicly showing signs of the disease we carry. By working together we help each other use the disease to our advantage instead of becoming its victims." Doug resides in Northern California and serves on the Board of Directors for the ADA, Father of the Year, Diabetes-Explorer and Pacific Island Rugby Teams.
