By Tuesday, about 600 CWD families from around the world had arrived at the Marriott World Center. Registration opened at 9 a.m., with Julia, Jo, Jill, Audrey, Betty, Outi, Marc, Rhonda, and Georgia greeting those early birds who were in line right at opening. Registration was busy all day, and we began to see hundreds of red, white, and blue Friends for Life t-shirts throughout the property!
The Sports Central set-up crew started bright and early – and Sports Central was ready for action by noon. Many thanks to the team: Rick Philbin, Chris Tull, Ben Stroud, Bob Marquess, Bob Schmidt, and Ash Head for getting everything moved and ready in time for the kids! By mid-afternoon, the area was busy with soccer matches, basketball games, and volleyball – and lots of kids and parents running around having a great time! A giant thank you to Novo Nordisk for once again sponsoring Sports Central!
Also on Tuesday evening, the Quilt for Life set-up crew got to work. Led by veteran QFL Coordinators Bob Esterhay and Peter Megaw, the Quilt crew set up the 720+ squares in record time. This year's quilt team included the Laritz family, the Peach family, Georgia Spiropoulos, the Marquess family, Charles Renfroe, a last minute walk-in group of very helpful young adults, and teens Shelby, Chris, Tayler, and Jacob. You all did a great job!
