Come and Enjoy One of the Many COOL Social Events!

Events are presented in chronological order

Exhibitor's Reception
Join in the fun and excitement as we kick off the conference with the Grand Opening of the Exhibit Hall, hosted by Children with Diabetes and John Ratzenberger, Wednesday evening at 6:00! After a day of site-seeing, traveling, or enjoying the shops of Pasadena, there will be nothing better than exploring the exhibit aisles, talking with conference participants and company representatives, and coming away with some new ideas and fun souvenirs. The Pump Girls will be on hand to meet-n-greet the youngsters. Hot and cold snacks will be served, and a cash bar will be available.

Thursday Buffet Breakfast
Start the day off on the right foot with a healthy buffet breakfast served right in the Exhibit Hall! Food will be served from 8:00 - 9:00 (sessions start at 9:00). This is a great chance to sit down with your family, have a nutritious breakfast, and plan out the morning!

Thursday Snack Breaks
Snacks will be offered in the Exhibit Hall from 10:15 - 10:45 a.m. and from 2:45 - 3:15 p.m. Browse the exhibits on your way in or out -- this is a fine opportunity to have a cup of coffee and a treat, and learn something new from our many exhibitors! Pfizer is pleased to be the sponsor for Thursday's healthy snack breaks!

Family and Friends Banquet
This Thursday evening event will feature family entertainment, music, dancing, and an inspirational keynote address from Gary Hall, Jr., who won the hearts of CWD children and parents during last summer's conference. Join us for a yummy buffet, meet some key people behind the scenes of CWD, and rock out to the music of the Pump Girls! After dinner, help clear away the tables and get ready to boogie! Young and old alike, it's dancing time! Novo Nordisk is pleased to be a Gold Level Sponsor of this event and of Gary Hall, Jr.'s participation in this year's conference. LifeScan is also pleased to be a Gold Level Sponsor of the Family and Friends Banquet.

Friday Buffet Breakfast
Start the day off on the right foot with a healthy buffet breakfast served right in the Exhibit Hall! Food will be served from 8:00 - 9:00 (sessions start at 9:00). This is a great chance to sit down with your family, have a nutritious breakfast, and plan out the morning!

Friday Snack Breaks
Snacks will be offered in the Exhibit Hall from 10:15 - 10:45 a.m. and from 2:45 - 3:15 p.m. Browse the exhibits on your way in or out -- this is a fine opportunity to have a cup of coffee and a treat, and learn something new from our many exhibitors!

Meet the Experts Reception
Friday, at the close of the educational sessions, join the conference faculty for drinks and hors d'oeuvres in the beautiful Sheraton Piazza ballroom, adjacent to the childcare area. This is a great opportunity to unwind, meet up with friends, and have some good conversation prior to the evening's social events. This Reception will precede the Teen Dinner Dance and Dining with the Experts.

Dining with the Experts
Relax without childcare worries and enjoy wonderful California cuisine with the conference faculty, and other noted experts in the diabetes industry. This Friday evening dinner event will be held at the elegant DoubleTree Hotel by the Plaza Las Fuentes. Nicole Johnson, Miss America 1999, will give the Keynote Presentation. Conference speakers and other diabetes professionals will host dinner tables and be available to discuss the latest research, diabetes management techniques, or whatever is on your mind! Children up to age 11 are welcome -- there will be a separate children's dining area (i.e., The Kids Table) in one section of the ballroom with food, adult supervision, and quiet entertainment for them, so parents and professionals can have uninterrupted discussion. (Note: Teens will have their own event this evening, see below.) Medtronic MiniMed is pleased to be the Gold Level Sponsor of this event.

Teen Dinner Dance
Friday evening, while the adults and younger children have dinner with the experts at the DoubleTree, teens (age 12+) will have their own social event at the Hilton (not far from where the adults are dining). This event will include a teen-style buffet dinner early in the evening, snacks later on, dancing to the music of a rockin' DJ, and hanging out with new-found friends. Chaperones will provide supervision - teens will be requested to stay on site at the dance until a parent picks them up at the end of the evening. CDEs will be on hand in case of diabetes questions or concerns.

Children with Diabetes Foundation Benefit Day at Universal Studios
Don your conference t-shirt and join hundreds of other CWD families on Saturday for a fun-filled, thrill-packed day at Universal Studios Hollywood Theme Park! The day will include rides and shows, character visits, a sumptuous BBQ buffet dinner, and many other attractions. TheraSense is pleased to be the Platinum Level Sponsor for this event, which means that all ticket proceeds will be donated to the Children with Diabetes Foundation!
