On August 4 and 5, 2008, CWD's Quilt for Life was displayed on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Later in the week, the American Association of Diabetes Educators held their annual conference in Washington, D.C. Many diabetes educators had a chance to see the Quilt.
At 10 am, the official presentation of the Quilt for Life began with a few words by CWD's Jeff Hitchcock followed by a speech by Ken Moritsugu, MD, MPH, FACPM, former Acting U.S. Surgeon General and international public health expert. Afterwards, CWD volunteers showed the Quilt to visitors and many CWD families stopped by to have their photograph taken by their quilt panel.
