I am Shae West and I live in the Poconos. I was diagnosed on 8/17/2000 when I was three and a half. My grammy (Thelma Monaghan) and her friend Fiora (Liem) made this quilt for me-- it is covered with fabrics representing some of my favorite things as well as photos of my family! They also made me another quilt out of the same fabrics to use as a banner for "Team Shae" our JDRF 15 member walk team. This year, we raised $16,525 in the Washington DC Walk for the Cure in May. In the last two years, we have raised over $25,000 to help speed the cure our way!
