Ethan is the 4-year-old son of Ed and Julia Mattingly. He has a sister Hannah and brother Eddie. He lives in Kentucky.

Ethan was diagnosed on July 13, 1998 at the age of 10 months. He started on an insulin pump when he was three years old.
