Ellen Esterhay, age 10, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on January 28, 2000. She lives in Prospect, Ky., with her parents. She loves reading and writing stories. She is athletic and loves basketball and volleyball. Ellen wears an insulin pump, which new friends have mistaken for a gameboy or a pager. She looks forward to a cure for diabetes so she can live days without "stupid" insulin boluses and "stupid" finger pricks.
