My name is Deanna Kaylee Da Costa. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 10 years old on July 25, 2006. This quilt was made by my mom and it is the first time she made a quilt. I designed it and my sister drew the insulin bottle and syringe.

I'm the only one in my family with type 1 diabetes, so I guess that makes me kind of special.

I love monkeys! So much that even my nickname is Monkey. I also love karate and softball.

I really hope that one day soon they will find a cure for all the kids like me. I don't let diabetes run my life. I make it fit into mine, but it sure would be nice not to have to get any more shots.
