Gwen is 5 years old and lives in Connecticut with her Mom, Dad, and little sister Gianna. She has been very courageous and responsible since her diagnosis and started doing her own blood sugar testing two weeks after her diagnosis. Gwen is a happy, caring and beautiful child who simply loves life. She is very active and loves riding her bike, gymnastics, sports, swimming, dancing and singing, playing with her friends, and just about anything that keeps her busy. She is looking forward to starting Kindergarten in September 2002. All of her family and friends have been very supportive of her and pray every day that a cure will be found for type 1 diabetes. Each member of Gwen's family has a special place for her in their hearts.
