Ben was diagnosed on 3/13/98 (Friday the 13th!) at the age of 10. Now 18, he (as we all do) focuses on the positives of diabetes and reflects on the many friendships he has made since 1998. Without CWD, we would have never made it through the last eight years. Ben uses an Animas insulin pump and nothing stops him from skateboarding, surfing, going to concerts, driving, working and attending high school....life is good and with a cure it could be spectacular!
This quilt was lovingly made by two of Ben's Mom's co-workers, Melanie Betancourt and Robin Rush - their beautiful touch has enabled Ben's story to be told.
