Dylan was diagnosed just shy of his fifth birthday. The words "sugar and ketones are present" are ones that my husband and I will never forget. Dylan's diagnosis on March 14, 2001 was devastating. Through it all though -- the daily finger pricks, the insulin injections, the limitations of certain foods, the highs and the lows -- Dylan has been great. My son is my hero; the love, light, and inspiration in my life. Not a day goes by without thoughts of a cure -- a cure for a disease no child is deserving of.
This quilt square was made with lots and lots of love by Dylan's Grandma Kathy.
