Michael was diagnosed with diabetes on June 30, 1997 when he was five years old. We called his drop of blood his "ladybug" because he had to squeeze out a big, ladybug-sized drop in those days. Now, we collect ladybug things, which is why there are so many ladybugs on his quilt. Michael has been on the pump since December 2001 and we love it! He is very active in sports, and the pump makes everything about managing diabetes so much easier. Michael has two brothers, Daniel, 13, and Dylan, 8. They help him manage his diabetes by being supportive and loving.
