Shannon's quilt was made by Hilda Moses, a dear friend of the family who has Type 2 diabetes. Shannon is holding a newborn girl chocolate lab puppy, one of a litter of 14 she helped bottle feed.

Shannon was diagnosed two years ago. She's very good about her finger sticks but hates her shots. She will be very happy when the day comes that she will not have to have them. We pray every night that God lets someone find a cure for this disease. Shannon loves cats, dogs and especially horses. She loves to swing, bicycle, and play.

I think the best advice anyone gave me after she was diagnoses was "Always remember she's a child first, and a diabetic child second."
