On May 1, 2001, at age six, Brandi was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. She has been a mascot and cheerleader since she was three years old. Because of this, her diabetes was caught during a routine sports physical. Our family doctor led us to Dr. Dean Broome, shown on the quilt. What a blessing he and the Backus Children's Hospital have been to us. Let us all continue to pray for a cure.
