Haley Ward is a thirteen-year-old eighth grader from California. Haley was diagnosed at age ten on December 9, 1999. She has been using an insulin pump for over a year. Haley loves school and has fun pitching for her fast-pitch softball team, the Rockets. She also enjoys art and sewing. Next year will be her fifth year in 4-H. Haley's mom had fun making the "Quilt for Life" and each of the nine blocks represents something special in Haley's life. Haley and her parents want to thank the dedicated diabetes team at Children's Hospital in Oakland, California for the excellent care she receives. They also thank their friends and family who continue to support Haley and educate themselves about type 1 diabetes.
