My name is Lauren and I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes the first week that I was in the first grade. I want to sound a shout out to my older cousin Jenny who also has type 1 diabetes. I live with my mom and dad in New York. I am learning how to play the piano and like to sing, dance, swim, and read. One of my doctors calls me the "autoimmune queen" because I thyroid disease and celiac disease too. It doesn't feel so sweet having all of these problems but I have really good medical people taking care of me. I started wearing the Omni Pod in January 2008 and it is better than injections. I hope they find a cure for all of these diseases one day so I can be like all of my friends.
