LIFE AT CAMP
The American Diabetes Association Donovan McNabb Diabetes Camp for Kids is a unique program for boys and girls ages 8 to 16. Located in the heart of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, the program offers a wide range of activities, including recreational swimming, sports, hiking, arts and crafts and theater. Campfire activities are highlighted with music, interactive games and discussion. Supervised free time is set aside each day for campers to write letters, read stories or just relax in the peaceful camp setting. Our program is non-competitive and fosters self-direction.

CAMP PHILOSOPHY
The American Diabetes Association Donovan McNabb Diabetes Camp for Kids centers on the importance of self-reliance and respect for others while providing recreational experiences and diabetes education for children and young adults with diabetes. Through the expert guidance of the camp staff, children are encouraged to develop their skills and gain self-esteem. While emphasizing safety and fun, campers also learn community living skills and independence. The American Diabetes Association is committed to providing an educational experience as well as supplying information and referral services for children and families with diabetes, advocating for fair and quality treatment in schools and extra curricular activities, and increasing federal funding for diabetes research.

Camp Green Lane is accredited by the American Camping Association; exceeding the most comprehensive standards for camping in the world.

CAMP HISTORY
For nearly 20 years, the American Diabetes Association's camp program in PA has provided campers with the essential tools needed to manage their diabetes.

The American Diabetes Association manages and directs the Donovan McNabb Diabetes Camp for Kids. Our program offers campers an experience like none other. Camp Green Lane's outstanding full-service camping facility is located in rural, pristine, Montgomery County. This unique camp provides excitement and adventure for campers in the great outdoors.

CAMP GOALS

The American Diabetes Association is proud to be the world's largest provider of camps for children with diabetes. Each year more than 10,000 children benefit from camping programs provided through American Diabetes Association funding.

CAMP MANAGEMENT
Management and supervision is provided by a highly competent staff of physicians, nurses, dietitians and counselors who strive to make the "home away from home" camp experience one that teaches successful techniques for diet control, exercise and insulin use. The skills learned will lead to better control and management of diabetes.

The activities, food services and recreational supervision support for the diabetes camp program are provided under contract by Camp Green Lane.

The planning and supervision of the camp program is implemented by the volunteers and staff of the American Diabetes Association Donovan McNabb Diabetes Camp for Kids at Camp Green Lane.

CAMP SESSION AND FEE

Date: June 16 - 22, 2007
Fee: $600.00
Age: 8 to 16
Children must be 8 years old by May 1, 2007. The number of campers is limited to 140.

APPLICATION POLICY
The American Diabetes Association Donovan McNabb Diabetes Camp for Kids processes applications in the order in which they are received. To assure your child's placement, submit the application as soon as you can.

The American Diabetes Association Donovan McNabb Diabetes Camp for Kids at Camp Green Lane does not discriminate based on race, creed, national origin, gender, or special needs. FUNDING
Funding for the American Diabetes Association Donovan McNabb Diabetes Camp for Kids is partially provided through camper fees. The actual cost per camper is approximately $1100 for one week.

Additional revenues for camp are provided through the fundraising efforts of the American Diabetes Association. If you would like to assist us in raising funds to support camp or our other programs, services or research, contact your local American Diabetes Association office at 1-888-DIABETES.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Financial assistance is available to cover all or part of the camp fee. If you would like to apply for financial assistance, please indicate on the attached camp application form. A financial assistance form will be included with the additional forms and materials mailed to your after registration. The $25.00 registration fee is not covered by financial assistance.

Financial assistance is based on need and will only be awarded after our receipt and eligibility review of a completed financial assistance form.

Financial assistance is made possible through contributions from individuals, businesses, foundations and civic groups. If you are interested in contributing to the camp program, please contact the American Diabetes Association at 1-888-DIABETES.
