Camp Little Shot
May 22-24, 2004
Rock Eagle 4-H Camp, Eatonton, Georgia
The staff at Camp Little Shot has designed a new and separate camp for those between the ages of 15-18. As always, campers and many staff members have insulin dependent diabetes. The adventure camp was designed to challenge the young person with diabetes both mentally and physically. The goal of this camp is to learn how to always be in charge of your diabetes.
Camp Little Shot is a unique camping experience for young people who have diabetes. It is a co-ed camp for children ages 6-14, where all campers and many staff members have insulin dependent diabetes. Camp Little Shot has many special qualities including diabetes education designed to help the campers learn to live healthy and normal lives. We also have great activities to develop the campers' hidden talents such as athletics, crafts, and many other outdoor activities.
Camp Little Shot is a free camp for children in the central Georgia area. It is funded entirely through private donations from several generous individuals and organizations. Any contribution a family would like to make would be greatly appreciated. We will be supplying all of the blood glucose monitors and strips, as well as insulin and syringes. There are other ways to help keep Camp Little Shot free for kids. Two fundraisers are held throughout the year, the Southern Jubilee 5K Road Race, Diabetes Night at the Macon Braves (dates TBA), and Diabetes Night at the Knights (Arena Football). All proceeds from these two events help pay for camp. Please support our efforts in keeping camp free of charge!
If transportation is needed to and from camp, we will help in those arrangements. Please call 478-746-8626 to make reservations for transportation before May 31, 2004. We do encourage parents to drop off and pick up their children from camp, if possible, because we would like the family to see the camp, meet the staff, and be part of the child's experience.
All applications must be in by May 15, 2004. Upon receiving applications, cabin assignments will be made. There will be no changing cabins once arriving at camp! Any questions about anything? Contact the camp at:
