Message from the Chairman for May 16, 1999

It's been a month since the motorcycle accident. I'm at home with my family and recuperating on schedule according to my doctors. It should be only a matter of weeks before I'm up on my feet and 100% again. Your kind words and good wishes have been greatly appreciated.

Since my unexpected encounter with the pavement, I've been forced to sit a while. Besides practicing the banjo and taking drawing lessons, I've had a lot of time to reflect and ponder. Knowing my injuries could have been much worse, I'm thankful for every day. By the grace of God, I'm still here for my family and able to continue to participate in the movement towards a cure for diabetes.

I once heard, "Yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift ... that's why they call it the present." I urge you to truly appreciate, really enjoy, and make the very most of every day.

Yours Truly,

John Ratzenberger
