Parent Activism Chat
We as parents have to be the ones to raise awareness to our government officials and to the public at large to express how debilitating diabetes is and why much extra funding is needed to scientifically research a cure for diabetes. I'm asking parents who are involved in different organizations, American Diabetes Association, Diabetes Research Institute, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Barbara Davis Center in Colorado and the Children With Diabetes Foundation, to join us and share how and why they are involved.
There are many parents who would be outstanding activists and advocates for the cure but don't know how to go about getting involved . Each of these organizations plays an integral role, so by uniting our unique missions, we can further strengthen the impact of any one group, and access even more unaffiliated families affected by diabetes. Hoping for a cure won't make diabetes go away. Perhaps by being able to ask the seasoned volunteers questions, these future parent advocates may feel welcomed and guided to join in the fight for all of our children and loved ones with diabetes and see diabetes cured sooner rather than later.
