Marion J. Franz, MS, RD, LD, CDE is a nutrition/health consultant with Nutrition Concepts by Franz, Inc; for over 20 years she was the Director of Nutrition and Health Professional Education at the International Diabetes Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a teaching specialist in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, University of Minnesota. Her Masters Degree in Nutrition is from the University of Minnesota, and she is a registered dietitian (RD) and Certified Diabetes Educator. She has authored more than 150 articles, books, booklets, and book chapters on diabetes, nutrition, and exercise and lectures frequently in the United States and internationally. She is currently co-chair of the task force to revise the American Diabetes Association and position and technical review papers on nutrition principles and recommendations and is editor of The American Diabetes Association Guide to Medical Nutrition Therapy for Diabetes, published in January 1999. She has received the American Diabetes Association Award for Outstanding Health Professional Educator, the American Dietetic Association Award for Excellence in the Practice of Clinical Nutrition, and the Park Nicollet Medical Center Community Service Award, among other honors. Marion's books Exchanges for All Occasions and Fast Food Facts are well known to many people with diabetes.
