The plans are crazy. We have so much going on this year - very exciting. I'm so happy that Kevin Covais was able to confirm being with us for the conference - and singing at the banquet. I got an earful from some folks last year who were a bit upset that Kevin was a surprise - so this year, we're letting everyone know nice and early!

The convention center is always on the cool side. A sweater or sweatshirt that you can just throw over your shoulders is a good idea.

I remember the first year we held a conference at Disney, I walked outside from the cold air conditioning, and it was literally a steambath outside - it had just stormed. My glasses got so foggy I couldn't see anything. I hope it's not that hot this year - but I'm not counting on miracles!

You know who else is coming this year? George Canyon. He is a country singer from Canada, and won the Canadian Male Artist for 2006 - he is really wonderful. He's going to sing at the Banquet. He has type 1 and wears a pump.

The best deal on park tickets is the link that is on the conference webpage. I even called Disney to verify the prices they offered us. There is only $1 difference between a 3-day, 4-day, and 5-day park hopper pass with water park. It's an amazing savings over buying tickets individually day by day. You have to buy them ahead of time online, though, and use the link.

You're right about the ton of food! Each person during the conference consumes about $500 worth of food between Tuesday and Sunday. It's amazing... but it keeps people happy and bgs in range!

Rhon, my understanding is that the tickets you can get on base are comparable, and don't have tax added. So you may want to go that route.

If you need a room, book it asap. I initially started out with a room block of 2,500 'room nights' (that's the total number of nights we expect people will stay). We have already surpassed that. I've added another several hundred on - but those will get reserved quickly. When the hotel is sold out, it's sold out. We'll identify overflow housing, but it'll be a drive. S, best to reserve now!

That is the correct price on food - at ANY convention held in a large hotel, the meals are quite expensive. And we provide a lot of meals and snacks between Tuesday and Sunday. Rhon - Let's see - the teen trip - we put Diamond on a bus to MGM, give her a ticket, tell her to have a great time on the rides, and pick her up at 6.

Actually, all the kids will get on the chartered buses around 9 a.m. (with the 12 chaperones) and head to MGM. We have a private 'home base' area that is air conditioned and is where they can keep extra supplies, and where they will come to check in several times. We provide lunch and snack $$ (disney dollars). Bus will come back around 6. Details to come a bit closer to the event...

In reality - the conference is priceless. The cost of the conference is minimal considering the meals (for all, or near all, of the family), the educational sessions, the goodies that the vendors give you, and then the friends that you meet for life

Renee - The Saturday Benefit this year is the Magical Memories Breakfast, which is held right at the hotel. Disney princes and princesses will be in our ballroom 'holding court.' The kids can meet them, get autographs, have photos taken, etc. The characters are OURS - no one else in the hotel can come in. Afterwards, we have chartered buses to take us to Magic Kingdom. The tickets for breakfast are $25 and the proceeds go to the Education for CWD Foundation. And you need to provide your own park ticket.

I don't recommend that kids bring friends. The point is for them to MEET friends, and that is harder to do when you bring one of your own. Although, some kids do and it's fine (and others do and it's not fine).

Well, I can't say it's a 'party' atmosphere, but it's definitely fun. During the day, the focus is on learning (and with the kids, the group leaders like Lauren incorporate the learning activities into the fun). For those who are really looking to relax and have a vacation, you should seriously consider adding days onto the conference (before is better than after). You will be busier than busy from Tuesday to Sunday.

Renee - There is still plenty of time to register. No worries. Don't wait until June, though. We may well be sold out by then. When the space is 'fire marshall full' - that's it. A couple of events - in particular the banquet and the Magical Memories Breakfast - have limited seating. So that's what I'm referring to in my other posts.
