This will be our 4th FFL. Haven't made it to any of the others. They had a pumping one withing 10 miles of us but we weren't pumping then.

Since your son has CD, be sure to attend Dr. Fasano's lectures if you can. I've been following his research for years and I really believe he is onto something. He thinks that for some genetiallly prone individuals, the leaky gut from CD is triggering the T1D. Even if CD was not diagnosed until after the diabetes.

We got orders... we will be moving to North Carolina in June right after the kids get out of school... Jeff is heading forward in a few weeks and spend 4 months in bachelor life looking and buying our house

I don't want to take a chance with moving the kids in the middle of the school year... figure if I get there by the end of June I have a month to make them comply with Brandon's IEP and food requirements. I called when we got orders and they said silly what? I said celiac and she said what is that? so I figured it was best to wait until the summer

Ah, We're using the Cosmo with the attached Freestyle. Personally I like the software on the One Touch but I won't give up the Cosmo.

I don't know about the Freestyle so much... Brandon doesn't like it, Rhiannon gets frustrated with it, but I paid for 1200 test strips so she has to use them up

If you're going on the cosmo, you can use them on the attached meter. It works OK but uploading data to the PC is sometimes difficult.

that is awesome numbers... Brandon's average is still 150-170 depending upon the last day... he is just all over the place lately... he was "LO" on the meter then 337 then 28 ... just last weekend for no reason.
I tried getting him Boost but he stays high for hours after drinking one.

Hi Jeffrey. Brandy never used the stand alone Freestyle. As meters go, not to bad. Fewer errors than the One Touch. But the best thing is that readings go right into the pump which can then calculate how many carbs or how big a bolus you need instantly.

Brand, IMO the IR port is a bit tempramental. The software is not as good as the One Touch stuff. I heard there was a way to get it to work with the Copilot software but it refused to work for me. I gave up.

The Renaissance is 80% full right now - there are only about 60 rooms left in the hotel... and then we will be in overflow space. We have the entire hotel reserved for CWD (with the exception of a few airline rooms) - so if you haven't made reservations yet, please do that asap!

Hotel updates - well, for those who were with us at the Renaissance in 2006, the rooms have been entirely re-done. Everything is brand new. The restaurants have been redone and have larger capacity. There is a new sushi restaurant on the main floor (where the fish used to be.... ummmm....) The pool area is the same. Brand new BIG spa for those who enjoy those spa-type things... and a really nice, new, large fitness area with some great equipment. The whole place is so much nicer than 2 years ago (and 2 years ago it wasn't bad). I just wish there were more rooms.

The fancy restaurant should be re-opened - as something. They aren't sure what. We will have grab-n-go meals (sandwiches, salads and such) on Weds so the restaurants don't get so backed up. Remember the pool bar has some decent food, too, for 'hanging out' times.

There will be a LOT of folks who require gf food on site, and the restaurants will accommodate. There is fish on the dinner menu Thursday - but there also are lots of other items. Sam is allergic to shellfish... other people are allergie to nuts, dairy, fruit, pork, etc. We always can accommodate. If someone has a severe allergy - we can plate your food and just bring it straight to you from the kitchen (to be sure there are not contaminants). They do this all the time.

Fortunately, we don't have to worry about gluten, but Marissa's decided that she prefers a mostly vegetarian lifestyle. She just eats the side dishes when she's home for dinner, which is very rare these days.

We plan to drive to Wisconsin around July 1 to pack up the quilts and get them shipped. The quilts are stored in a warehouse owned by Jeff's dad, just north of Milwaukee. It's not the most convenient (7 hours from here), but it's FREE.

It absolutely can be (cross-contamination in the kitchen). Please trust us on this - we work closely with the chefs. They know what they need to do for us, and Mike Schurig stays on top of it.

Focus groups are smaller educational sessions and discussion groups that go on all day Wednesday. They are usually held by our sponsors and they usually have something to do with the sponsors' products. Not always, though. We'll have about 40 different groups on Wednesday. Some will be for teens and kids, most will be for adults. They are a great opportunity to spend some time with the people who make the products we all use.

I'd suggest a taxi. For the park days (going to Universal on Saturday), we have bus transportation. If you want to go to a Disney park, take a taxi or hitch a ride with another CWD family. Unless, of course, you get great car rental rates...

We're coming down on the 18th to meet up with friends and go to Universal/Island of Adventure. Our annual passes expire on the 21st so leave to fly back on Saturday morning instead of spending the $ to go back to Universal again.

Two years ago at Sea World was so incredibly hot. I think that is the worst it has been. Those of you who stayed all day- and all evening to see the fireworks - were real troopers! I like Universal Studios because there are shows as well as rides, and you can go inside and cool off!

Hi Laura, Shelby is interested in volunteering again this year. I too would like to be a volunteer again. Shelby is very ill with mild ketones, temp 103.9. she is doing alittle better today. How are you all doing. I'm ready for FL for the warmer weather. I'm tired of all this rain and cold.

HI Rick - The tickets for Saturday are for one park, your choice. So, either Universal or Islands. The lunch is in CityWalk, which is between the two parks. We have so many people that they've now allocated 4 restaurants to us. Same menu - it will be a BBQ buffet - just different seating. Air conditioned!

I don't think we'll have the Frios donated this year. The company that distributes them - Cooler Concept - will be in the exhibit hall. So you can purchase a frio if you'd like. They'll have all different sizes.

Ariana, if you come to the FFL then you can see all the different pump options, try them with prescription from your doctor and see all the different infusion sets, it is a great platform... or even one of the focus on pumping regional conferences

Laura, I have a question I haven't seen asked. You have talked about kids not moving up in age group for insurance reasons, but can they move down or stay put if they are not ready to move into the next group? This doesn't affect me this year, but may next time.

Betty - Sorry Shelby is so sick. NO fun. I hope she feels better soon! We can discuss volunteering later. The ECWDF scholarship families need to have the first volunteer slots allocated to them, as that is part of the agreement when one gets a scholarship. Not sure that we will need many volunteers this year. We definitely will need room captains, though (this is a person who is responsible for the room/sessions for a whole day; this includes introducing the speakers, etc.).

Betty, we have always had to give extra insulin to get rid of ketones, we have used powdered jello or gingerale to get the sugar up enough to give large bolus of insulin to flush out the ketones
