Me? I don't work for the J & J people so I guess my only title is "Chief Cook and Bottle Washer!" Last week, Jeff thought I could open a business as a "Handywoman" because we were putting up pilasters on our house (trim that goes near the front door--replaced rotting wood with urethane). I also do 99% of the yard work and have done some exterior painting this spring, too. Not enough hours in the day...

Darn it Julia! Marissa was here for dinner and I didn't think to take a pic of her for the collage. Maybe I will send the other two kids' pics tomorrow and hope I remember to get a pic of Marissa. She got about 12 inches of hair cut off for the Pantene "Kindest Cut of All" program. Looks cute.

Yep, Laura, he did. Somehow, I scraped the outside part of my right wrist today when I was out planting/fertilizing. I felt pain and saw what looked like a "scrape." I must have bumped the fence because I had about 25 small splinters sticking out of my skin. Still have about 12 left--too small to remove.

That's a good idea, Rhon. There is so much info to sift through. At the first timer hospitality area this year (which will be adjacent to registration), we will have 'suggested sessions' for people interested in certain topics. So, if you are brand new to diabetes, we'll have a Diabetes 101 suggested list. If you're just interested in new technology, we'll have a suggested list for that. And so on.

Brenda, use the removing-cactus-thorns trick - spread a layer of Elmer's Glue over it, let it dry, and then pull it off. That usually gets a lot of the invisible ones. Sounds like a nice big ouch

Good question about the focus groups on Weds. Yes, every person in the group needs to be registered, even if it is a child. The reason for this is that there is a max number of people per room. Children are people and they count towards this number. Please note that if the topic does not indicate it's a session for families, it probably isn't appropriate for kids. You can always get on the Orlando2008 email list and see if one of the teens or young adults wants to help out with sitting.

Thanks for the tips. Don't think we have Elmer's and I don't know if the tape will work. Jeff used a BD lancet to remove the big ones. That's what you do with the ones our kids never use.

Re: Focus Groups... unless it is a family-friendly session (for example, educational tools, or tasting products or something like that), it's much better to have the kids elsewhere so that you can actually pay attention to the focus group interaction. Focus groups are small. They rely on everyone's thoughts and contributions. It's hard to do that when you've got half an eye on the kids.

Beth - Some of the focus groups fill up because the person leading the group only wants 5-6 participants. They are really after in-depth conversation. We are not keeping waiting lists - that would be too crazy to manage. But, you can show up the morning of the group and see if there is space. Sometimes there are no-shows.

I wish I could get my kids' grandparents to come. I think they would be so much more comfortable with Meghan staying with them, especially my MIL. FIL has T2, so he kinda gets it but the pump and CGM throw him for a loop.

Food Dude will be there in his glory! (that is CWD's Dietitian Mike Schurig for those of you who don't know). Sunday morning is the Farewell Breakfast. Time to say goodbye, exchange emails and phone #'s... and if you are sticking around for a few days, hang by the pool. It's a pretty fun day. One year on Sunday, didn't Jim Vail lead Water Aerobics in the pool all day? That was a hoot!

Diabetes always seems to be changing, doesn't it? Sam is 18, and we still modify things all the time. It's different with a little one, though, because they can't tell you. You're doing exactly the right thing connecting with families on CWD. When Sam was dx'd, those families were my lifeline. Still are.

No more cruises! We couldn't locate those motion sickness patches fast enough! And the 2nd CWD cruise was the coldest weather in the hx of Cozumel. I had my coat on the entire time. I much prefer land - that doesn't move.

Hey Sue - Yep, there will be several buses running between the Residence Inn (overflow hotel) to the Renaissance. On park day (Saturday), the buses will make a loop once the day gets going, and will stop at Residence Inn, Renaissance, Universal... and so on all day. I'll post a schedule when we get the kinks worked out.

The pool bar at the Renaissance has a really nice lunch menu - definitely pool food, but you can get a grouper sandwich or a salad... or a burger and fries. All kinds of beverages. Maybe the chatters could hook up there on Tuesday (those who arrive early).

Not only not take the gf food, but not stick a spoon from the other buffet into it - and cross-contaminate! We are very serious about food allergies. People have all kinds of allergies, not just gluten.

Jen try to relax in a comfortable spot at home each day and practice relaxation techniques while envisioning flying being a wonderfully fun and gentle adventure. Then when you get on the flight, hopefully you can practice the same relaxation/breathing techniques.

They live near Houston. We saw them quite often when we live in Corpus Christi. I think she gets nostalgic for those times. She even told my husband that we should move closer.

From here, 7 hours flight time. That's what husband's ticket says. He has a direct flight from Anchorage to Houston.

Does anyone know where I can get a 504 Plan for a Jr. High student, not a pumper? ADA site shows pumps and CANADA. Where could get one?
