Never in a million years could I figure out iPhone chatting... You are very brave.
Not really a game. They plays in Pods, 4 against 4, skill building. I'm no dummy--I'm in the car where it's 68ish vs. 34 inside!
I always had a blanket in the car for Sam's hockey (practices or games - you're right - they are all freezing). Was it warm down your way today? We're expecting severe storms tomorrow. Beautiful today.

The 1:00 Artificial Pancreas session is full. And the 3:00 session is more than half full. Very assertive focus-group-signing-up going on!

Hi everyone
i just sent a reminder to the list...
Lauren mentioned that... we have CWD Central set up from Sunday to Sunday out by the pool. It's an area with supplies for lows (glucose tabs and juice boxes) and a water station... and CWD friendly faces. I'm looking for volunteers to help staff that through the week!
Isn' that when she's babysitting 43 kids of all ages so parents can attend focus grps?

It;s scary- his whole group of teens off to college... they've been together at FFL for 8 years !! and still phone and email ...

We're in the same boat, Brenda. Just Sam and me traveling. We're coming out on the 25th, to spend a bit of time at the ADA conference, and then start working on our space on the 27th. Lots to be done.

I am great. Had our first 3 month check up yesterday and her A1c was 15 and yesterday it was 6.8!! How cool is that?
It usually takes us a few weeks to get the next year's info online, and people are always asking for it just as soon as they get home. So this year, we'll be ready!
Chelsea, why aren't you playing hockey anymore? I remember you always talked about that. ??

hockey season is over now and it was my last year of midgets so i have to fine a women legule to play in if i can find one
Grayson was diagnosed a week after his 1st Birthday. He will be 5 in July. He has a pump and a continueous Glucose Monitor that he calls Dex. Grayson lives in Katy,TX. with his parents Jeff and Christy(our daughter) and twin 18 month old sisters. Sam and I live in McKinney,Tx. North of Dallas.

Grandma Brenda - So much for you to choose from at the conference... there is a dedicated grandparents track of sessions on Thurs and Fri, but also some other very excellent sessions. You can come and go from the grandparents track - you do not need to do the entire thing.

This will be our 5th year, but we feel like we've been a part of it all along. :)

Loren, I think the grandparents track does feel like 'home' to many... plus the tried-n-true Grands help welcome the new Grands, and it just becomes a larger and better community. But really, I do want to emphasize to the Grands this year that coming and going - and picking and choosing - is not only just fine, it is expected.

I don't think Louis is coming this year - I haven't heard from his family. Australia is a pretty long journey!
I think it's so amazing, the families coming from other countries - I'm dumbfounded just from the Bucks coming from Alaska!
I'm hoping they will opt to attend the caregivers camp. They were just up here last week. I don't believe they check his BG while visiting. Since they live in FL and don't see him that often it takes awhile for them to be comfortable.
The Caregivers group will be excellent. Glad you signed up for that.

Loren, my folks never did feel comfortable with any diabetes management at all. Neal's parents either. It makes me really happy to see other Grands joining us - I think my parents really missed out on getting to know their grandson.
I should be getting the prom pics back soon, so I can finally send my pic to Julia. I'm usually not this late, but wanted to wait for them.
Are the Marriott restaurant prices as high as the Coronado? Good place for breakfasts and lunches pre-FFL meals?
So - I'm going to toss out a couple of reminders here because I know some people will read the transcript tomorrow:
1. Please sign up for childcare if your child is younger than age 6 and you would like for him/her to be in childcare on Thurs/Fri - you do have to pre-register and space is limited
2. If anyone in your family has food allergies, please let us know; we have a gluten free buffet for all meals and snacks, and we acocommodate other allergies as best we can! That is much easier when we know about them!
3. Sign up for focus groups is underway... look online...
4. If you haven't reserved your hotel room yet, do it now! Room block is almost sold out.

Restaurant prices are high.
There is a food court on the ground/pool level. It is reasonable. Also, I find the sandwiches at the pool bar not badly-priced (and I love the fried grouper sandwich with the housemade BBQ chips...)
Serena, Diamond loves to talk to other CWD's if your daughter is interested. She'll be at the teen welcome group, too.

Remember to reserve a refrigerator if you want one for your room. The MWC has plenty of them. A good way to save $$ is to do a grocery run and get snacks and beverages for your room so that you aren't always buying from the restaurants and gift shops. Of course, nothing replaces the morning Starbucks...
You must love that grouper, that's not the 1st time you've mentioned it. LOL
Anyone have an 11 year daughter or son that Brianna can look forward to meeting?

Di, she'll be with me in tweens. There are tons of girls in there.
Di - Your 11 year old will be in good company. Last year, there were about 250 kids in the 10-12 age group!

Serena, make sure that your daughter comes to the Teen Reception on Weds from 3-4:30. That is the ice-breaker time for this age group and really helps them get started on making friends.
22hr trip to Disneyland. It was fun, then to Monterey Bay Aquarium yesterday 14 hrs. I am exhausted! I need a vacation. Shelbys bgs fantastic!
I'd love to go to Hogwarts, but I figure it'll be like sardines this year.

what coulrer are shirts this year
Universal does have some sort of pass, but I am not entirely certain that they will be available during the holiday week for those requesting them. CWD families generally go as a group to a theme park on Saturday after the conference - and we decided not to do that this year because Universal would not accommodate our request for Guest Assistance Cards. They said we could buy them, but they would not give them on the basis of need (anyone can buy a front of line pass, and btw, this pass does not work for the Harry Potter attraction).

Harry Potter opens on June 18 so it'll be CRAZY I'm sure.
The shirts are red, white, & blue for 4th of July weekend.

Oh bummer, Laura. I figured I could at least BUY the passes to not have to wait too long at Harry Potter. Guess we'll have to go super early. Plus, we're going the Monday before the conference.
In past years, Universal was wonderful in accommodating our families during FFL. This year, they simply wouldn't. I'm not sure whether it was a change in policy or whether it's because of the busy holiday week, but we made the decision to stay poolside and just relax instead of dealing with a theme park. I'm sure there will still be families that go. I will be by the pool - with a grouper sandwich.
Tim is taking his driver's test tomorrow??? EEEK! Go have a glass of wine.

Also - read the fine print if you buy a front of line pass. I believe you can only go on each attraction and get front-of-line access once.
Diamond has her permit. I love having a cheaufer! She'll get her license in Sept.

Di - You know the email list that I use to update everyone? Anyone can send a message on that list. So - you send one and ask if there are any teens or college kids who would be interested in babysitting on Weds. There are always takers.

A couple of the focus groups are already full. So, if you want to attend groups on that day, you should sign up for them asap. Alternately, another way to do it is to see what still has some space (or no-shows) on focus group day, and go to those.

Laura, so glad you posted the info about the Ping and amusement rides on the CWDP lists. Altho, I got it late, she kept her pump on and we were lucky. Should all pumps be removed for rides? A good question for newbies?
They are fun. They really enjoy and know how to work with kids. They are also staff at our Vancouver Friends for Life conference in August. Busy summer!

I don't know about all pumps. I just asked a contact at Animas (after you sent me the text question from Disneyland) and she looked in the manual and sent me the reference.

Serena - Take a look in your manual for the Pod and see if there is a section about Amusement Parks. I'm going to send a note to my contact at Insulet to see if I can get information... but if there is a warning, my guess is that it would be in the manual like the warning for the PING.

Can't stand them. She was sick when we took her to an amusement park & tried to get her to ride (we didn't know she was sick). She was dx'd a week later. Kind of a two-fer on not liking them.
Electro magnetic fields can interfere with calibration. I guess we were lucky. I should have checked ahead of time. Last year was her first time with the Ping, but sleep deprived I forgot. Thanks Laura for helping, I was in panic mode.
Jamie was dx'd two days after our last trip to Disney. This trips sort of a do-over for us!

Oh man! Last year was Diamond's 1st time at Disney. She DID ride the teacups, tho, that was the most for her. (Hubbs & I love coasters, go figure)
It would be neat. We talked about doing that, but Sebastien isn't able to be with us in Orlando this year. Will is giving the closing Keynote, which I am sure will be exceptional. He is a great speaker.
She rode the teacups? That makes me sicker than any of the rides... spinning and spinning and more spinning (turning green thinking of it).
He really is. 1 of the tweens asked Sebastien last time if they knew each other. He said no, but thought it'd be cool to "compare notes". We met Will at our 1st conference & he really impressed us.
Will is an awesome speaker and a big inspiration to the kids and us parents. I am looking forward to hearing Will talk again!
