Ok... since none of the staff who are on are speaking up, I will do a quick intro so you know who is on and can ask questions. Jo Stroud is on - she helps coordinate everything at registration, along with Julia (who I see, but haven't heard from) and Mike (who said hi but is being quiet). Betty coordinates the volunteers. Stacey leads the K room. Brenda helps with everything. Ask away!

Well, I am probably the first official user of this web site as Jeff's wife. Jeff runs the site. Marissa is now a nurse and will be Teen Staff at FFL. Kathryn, 20, will probably be doing a college co-op who knows where and Tim, who is 16.5 loves FFL! I help Julia/Jo at Registration, take photos on Teen Day at the park (where am I going this year???) and will take photos at the DSF Golf event since Jeff will be photographing the Teen Driving Clinic.

On Weds, there will be some family friendly focus groups, and some that clearly are JUST for adults, or just for a very specific age group. It will be detailed exactly who the target audience is (and I will check as you sign up for groups to make sure it's a fit). There will be lots of groups to choose from. No childcare that day, though.

Focus Group info will be up in May. The sponsors run most of the groups; they don't give me titles and target audiences until the end of April. Registration for the focus groups is done online - there's a form.

The teens are required to stay in groups, on their own for 90 min. or so, then go back to whereever CWD HQ is (while at the park), check their BGs, report in to Natalie/Jim/Marissa, then they go back out to rides. The frequent check-ins are mandatory!

Thanks for mentioning that, Brenda. And we do not have an official day at the park as we've had in past years. Instead, we have the Family Day at the Coronado with a Character Lunch (a BBQ, indoors, Air conditioned!, lots of games, 11:30-2:30). You need tickets for the lunch.

I think so, too, Jo. A really good move to keep things close. The Saturday is going to be amazing. We have all the bikes rented (just for CWD families), Lauren and Jen are coordinating a family Scavenger Hunt in the morning, sand v-ball at the Dig Site for CWD, and also a DJ at the pool in the afternoon. Sports Central will stay open all day as well! If the weather cooperates, outdoor movies when it gets to be dusk.

No such thing. A room captain is the person in charge of the ballroom. They introduce speakers, make sure the AV is working, call for help if anything needed in the room, etc. Hmmm. The Room Captain Coordinator would be Betty S - she coordinates all the volunteers!

Probably not Rhon. It's just one more thing for Jeff to oversee and get done by the printer. We are very lucky that the printer works closely with us. We always have to have the signs and programs done completely about 10 days before the Conf. so we can pack and ship them, from the comfort of our lovely un-air conditioned storage space.

in the k group, and even the pre k group - we do lots of crafts, scavenger hunt, gross motor activities, have guest visits , go to sports central, visit the quilt..... we're all very organized...

Total # of children we can accept in childcare is 100; I don't think we've ever had that many. It's usually about 30 per room (3's, 4's, K's, and baby/toddlers).

So... let's do the math for a minute...envision... If there are 600 families participating in FFL, there are 600+ children with type 1 diabetes and very likely 600+ sibs/friends without type 1 diabetes. It is a LOT of kids, and it's a great mix of activities, learning, and fun that keeps everyone busy and happy!

I think Rhon mentioned this, but we do have gluten free buffets for each and every meal and snack break. If you've indicated on your registration form that you have celiac, Registration staff will give you a yellow wristband that will allow you access to those gf buffets. We take food allergies very seriously.

Yes---and tobe very clear-----if there is any reason for a parent to be taken back to their child in a different session/room---we find you very quickly---we interrupt sessions to make an announcement. So you are always reachable.

Well, the whole nut thing can be tricky. Although no Conference food has nuts, we cannot control what people have with them for their child or themselves. I used too carry P.B. crackers for Marissa.

Re: care... YOU as the parent are always responsible for your child's diabetes management. You will see your child every 75 minutes. That's how long the sessions are. After the first session, you'll connect with your kids, have a beverage break, use the bathroom, check bgs, etc., and then go back to sessions. At lunch, there is a 90 minute break. Afternoon session... then a snack break. Etc. We will always check bg if a child doesn't feel well, and we will always come get you from a session if we have concerns or your child needs you (for whatever reason). Period.

Lee Ann, I froze Marissa's insulin there in 2001. Be careful. Check the temperature on it before you put your insulin in it.

07 had a 2 mth old baby. 08 it was the first week of school. 09 was major budget shortfall. 10 had to help my mother post surgery
