Chat with Hamish Richardson about his band BROTHER

photo On October 9, 2002, we chatted with Australian musician Hamish Richardson, who doesn't let Type 1 diabetes keep him from rocking out with his band, BROTHER. Hamish writes songs, plays guitar, bagpipes and an Aboriginal ceremonial instrument called a didgeridoo, which produces a unique resonating and spiritually moving sound when blown through.

These links will help you learn more about BROTHER and the didgeridoo:

Good evening everyone. Thanks for being here with us tonight. We're chatting with Hamish Richardson, of the Australian Rock Band BROTHER. Hamish has had Type 1 diabetes since 1988. Hamish is joining us from Los Angeles to talk about music -- a true inspiration for him, and of course diabetes. Welcome Hamish!

Wed Oct 9 2002 21:04:04 Eastern US
Hamish ('chatter') from 24.126.181.10
Lyn asked about the pump: well, I'm old-school...when I became a diabetic it was re-useable horse needles, so the refined slip-in needles these days seem a luxury. But my motto is: never say never!

Wed Oct 9 2002 21:04:27 Eastern US

Otherwise, can't say anything about the OneTouch UltraSmart until it's launched, early 2003. Glad you're looking forward to it. Nanabug: it is contagious, so always wear a plastic bag over your head when you're hanging out with them. To be supportive: just be aware, treat them like normal people, forgive their bad moods 'cause they might have low sugar but help them not to ignore it. It's easier to take care of it if you're upfront with it.
