Clare Rosenfeld (IDYA, 16) from 67.250.136.109
You're welcome Kelsey.

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:02:24 Eastern US
Kelsey M (I was dx'd only about 4 mths ago) from 152.163.189.201
I like that idea for the tshirts

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:02:54 Eastern US
Billetdeaux (CWD Events, Sam's mom) from 68.43.235.39
General t-shirt guidelines:
Front and back can be printed
Back needs to have sponsor logos - in this case, it would be Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals and LifeScan. We'd need the IDYA logo somewhere on it. Doing printing on sleeves is expensive. A front/back t-shirt with IDYA logo on front and sponsor logo on back, and something clever in writing... will be about $5 or so per shirt. I have a CWD mom who makes them for us. You guys give me the design - I'll have them for you.

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:03:17 Eastern US
Jay (Diabetic 29 years) from 151.199.239.163
I was wondering if anyone knows a Tasha in Cincinnati who is a diabetic?

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:04:19 Eastern US
Clare Rosenfeld (IDYA, 16) from 67.250.136.109
Thanks Laura, is it OK to have a darker color for the shirt. Mom indicated it might have to have a reverse color in the logo?

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:06:23 Eastern US
Billetdeaux (CWD Events, Sam's mom) from 68.43.235.39
Yes, you can pick the color shirt you want. A reverse logo will probably work... may be a little more expensive, but not a big deal.

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:06:28 Eastern US
Clare Rosenfeld (IDYA, 16) from 67.250.136.109
The IDYA logo looks just like the CWD logo with "International Diabetes Youth Ambassadors" under it.

Kelsey M (dx'd not even 4 mths ago, IDYA) from 152.163.189.201
If we're wearing the shirts in Florida, then I think maybe a lighter color might be a good idea since it will be HOT!

Lianna (IDYA ,12) from 68.43.116.167

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:12:57 Eastern US
Clare Rosenfeld (IDYA, 16) from 67.250.136.109
What about a dark turquoise? It would make us look tan in Florida and boy can I use that!

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:13:13 Eastern US
Billetdeaux (CWD Events, Sam's mom) from 68.43.235.39
Think about maybe all of you wearing them to the Magic Kingdom Day on Saturday of the conference. Parents will be in the white conference t-shirt, which says Friends for Life, and is blue with a lime-green for the logo.

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:13:54 Eastern US
Dana (IDYA, 14, dx'd 3 months ago) from 24.214.196.75
if the logo was reversed colors of the shirt, blue and white would be good.. me too, clare! i'm soooo pale!

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:13:54 Eastern US
Elizabeth (IDYA, Tennessee, dx'd at 3) from 216.98.83.134

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:15:08 Eastern US
Lianna (IDYA ,12) from 68.43.116.167
WEll the turdoise would go good with the parents t-shirts

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:15:21 Eastern US
Billetdeaux (CWD Events, Sam's mom) from 68.43.235.39
I could ask Chris (my t-shirt person) if she could do something like this:
50 shirts that are white with turquoise logo
50 shirts that are turquoise with white logo

Also, the sponsor logos on the back would be in either turquoise or white.

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:15:29 Eastern US
Sam (12, Michigan, IDYA) from 64.159.102.44
What about the color that the Quilt for Life shirts? It's not dark but it's not just plain white.

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:15:44 Eastern US
Clare Rosenfeld (IDYA, 16) from 67.250.136.109
one of the good things about turquoise is it isn't neon but it isn't dark enough to make us melt.

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:16:30 Eastern US
Carolyn (IDYA, 15, sam's sis) from 65.176.201.146

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:17:40 Eastern US
Billetdeaux (CWD Events, Sam's mom) from 68.43.235.39
It's 'wheat.' How's that for a color name?
For those of you going to Magic Kingdom on Saturday, especially if you are not planning to hang with your parents the entire time, it would be good for you to be wearing something with CWD on it.

Billetdeaux (CWD Events, Sam's mom) from 68.43.235.39
Which good idea? I don't remember what I said... something about "A Great IDYA... Ask Me About It!" Logo. Back would have Novo and LifeScan logos.

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:23:13 Eastern US
Kelsey M (IDYA, Kansas, dx'd 4 mths ago) from 152.163.189.201
I think that if the guys don't like the turquoise, and we choose that color, then they could wear the white shirts with turuoise.

Billetdeaux (CWD Events, Sam's mom) from 68.43.235.39
Pins, hats, and other things can certainly be ordered later. Keep in mind that you guys don't have any $$ in the bank right now earmarked for this, so CWD is fronting the money from the sponsorship dollars to buy these items. That's entirely fine. You'll need to pay for them (i.e., for your own shirts, hats, pins, etc.), and we'll build a little profit into the price so that IDYA has some additional funds to work with on other projects. It may take a good year or so to get going and really have some funds in the bank.

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:48:21 Eastern US
Billetdeaux (CWD Events, Sam's mom) from 68.43.235.39
Velcro - The big diabetes companies, including the pharmaceuticals, have very strict guidelines about what they can and can't do as far as giving away supplies. What they CAN do is support IDYA through CWD sponsorship. That is a safe route for them. They can't give supplies directly.

You guys need to pick one person to coordinate staffing the table. I donated the table - you figure who will be there. You'll need to staff it - two at a time - from Weds around dinner (after set-up), through the evening, and include all the break times between sessions on Thurs and Fri. During sessions, you should be IN them, not in the exhibit hall! So, who wants to be in charge of organizing the schedule?

Wed Feb 26 2003 21:52:11 Eastern US
Clare Rosenfeld (IDYA, 16) from 67.250.136.109
Another topic, in a few days I will be sending out an IDYA call to action. I have discovered a way for us to possibly go speak at the UN. If we all write our Ambassadors to the UN and ask for a resolution to be passed making November 14th the official UN World Diabetes Day and for there to be an actual meeting on that day, we may be able to come speak. I am drafting a letter we can all base our emails on. So...I will be sending an update on this soon.

Velcro, we are going to have to take this on a case by case basis. Speaking at the UN will help in some cases. Sometimes providing information and support to IDYA in those countries enables them to advocate.

So, Clare, just to wrap up my end of things... my two jobs are to check out the colors/prices on the t-shirts and to send Elizabeth the staffing schedule for the IDYA table at the conference. Correct? You, your mom, and Lianna will talk about the banner and a table cloth with IDYA logo.

To sumarize our chat: We have narrowed T-shirt colors down to turquoise with white and white with turquoise... 50/50. Kelsey and Lianna will coordinate staffing the IDYA table at the CWD conference. I will send a call to action this next week. Everyone needs to send a recipe to Evie for the IDYA cookbook. Lianna and I will work on the banner with our Moms.
