btw, Unomedical (they used to be Maersk) is having a focus group on Weds before the conference. They want to meet with teens who are pumpers or would-be pumpers to show you some new prototype sets and get your feedback. You need to sign up with me. Marissa is moderating the session for them.

I don't think so. I talk to Dr. S (email) nearly every day. Their group really misses us, and vice versa. It would be so nice to get together again this year, but I don't think it is going to happen. They are holding a summer camp in London in June, and it is quite expensive. So they don't have the $$ to visit us later in the summer. Just like we don't have the $$ to go to London to participate in their camp.

btw, Dr. S invited IDYAs to participate in their winter camp, which is in northern Italy. Probably the first week in January. It is unlikely that CWD will organize anything structured... we have school that week. It's hard to get away.

Drew - Big corporate sponsors. Only need 1 or 2 if they are truly big ones. Otherwise, I'd shoot for 5 sponsors at $5k each. Some families have come forward, too, and said they would 'adopt an Italian teen' and pay the expenses to have one of their group participate. It's about $600 per person, not counting airfare.

IDYA actually has a table this year... not in the exhibit hall, but right outside the main entrance, by registration. There's no way someone could walk by and not see you. You will not have an area to hang anything behind you, so whatever you do needs to be on the table or on an easel.

Dr. S has a group of about 40 teens, and then some adults to travel with them and stay with them during the conference... so we need to pay their expenses in the same way they paid ours in Italy last month. They will pay airfare; we will cover registration for the conference, the hotel, and meals.

That would work. It just has to be food that the hotel provides. So, we would ask someone like your mom, Eliz... or Natalie... if Animas would order the popcorn or snowcone machine from the hotel, pay for it, and allow it to be set up at the IDYA table. There wouldn't be much room for anything else (the table isn't huge). So it would basically be food and IDYA info... and your beautiful faces and personalities!

Also... think about this. There isn't a scheduled activity for Friday night. CityWalk is right there (short walk up the hill, no fee to get in). Lots of cool places to hang out, great places to eat... maybe you'll want to semi-organize an outing for whoever is interested for that night? It's close enough that you don't need transportation, and you can get back to the hotel very easily if someone isn't feeling well or needs to change a set or whatever.

instead of going to the hotel for sweets, if someone's not feeling well, do what I do when I go hiking by myself in the mountians. I carry a backpack w/ glucose tabs, glucose 15 (gel glucose), liquid drinks, and food(crackers, etc.)

Jay, I think it's fine to post a paragraph or so about your idea. You are working on several very neat projects. If people read them and it strikes home with them, you will have helpers! You just need to be honest about where you are with the projects. For example, in talking about the commemmorative coin, you could explain your idea, who you contacted, and what their response was.

CityWalk has a ton of great shopping. Good music. Lots of restaurants - some are sidewalk cafes, others are 'grab a bite' places while you keep walking, others are fancier and will be packed with long waits... however it's a wonderful place for hanging and people watching.

That's sort of the direction I was headed with Friday. sessions are over at 4:30. What if you got a group together and headed over to CityWalk around 6? You could talk at lunch about where you want to go - people can go to different places for dinner. Just divide into groups that make sense. (no way a restaurant will seat all of you on short notice, but that's ok... split up for dinner). I think you'd have fun. Some adults could come along, too, just as 'contact people.' They'd just be there in case someone needed something. (no, not money)

maybe to get more pople involved we could send out emails telling people when the chats are? i know i never see the chats posted until they've already happened, and if people got emails they might be more likely to come. the dinner and the confrence are all great, but it's hard for everyone to go to those.
