CWD Foundation Awards Largest Grant to Date to the Diabetes Research Institute
The CWD Foundation grant to the Diabetes Research Institute will support encapsulation technology and the use of a new compound that will deliver high volume oxygen to islet cells during the isolation process and within encapsulated cell membranes or devices.
The researchers at the Diabetes Research Institute plan to develop an easily retrievable, clinically relevant immunoisolation device.
Salary support for this work is being provided to Chris Fraker, who is working not only to support a cure for our children, but also for himself, a type 1 diabetic for 18 years.
For more information, see the Children with Diabetes Foundation web site or the Diabetes Research Foundation web site.
