Lilly Diabetes Scholarship Program

As of 2002, this program appears to be no longer running.

As part of its ongoing commitment to patients with diabetes, Eli Lilly and Company will once again offer the Lilly For Learning Diabetes Scholarship Program, a national scholarship program designed to assist students with Type 1 diabetes who will be attending an accredited public or private institution of higher learning.

Lilly will award fifty $2,500 scholarships to be applied toward the recipient's college tuition for the 1998-99 academic year. To be eligible for a Lilly For Learning Diabetes Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

Selection criteria will be based on academic achievement, Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or Academic Achievement Test (ACT) scores, diabetes-related activities, extracurricular activities, a written essay, and both a personal recommendation and a medical recommendation by a physician or diabetes educator.

Final selection of scholarship recipients will be made by the Lilly For Learning Diabetes Scholarship Advisory Panel, an independent board of diabetes physicians and educators from across the United States.

Applications for the scholarship to be awarded for the 1999-2000 school year will be available in November, 1998. The deadline for completed applications is March 31, 1999.
