Question:
I'm a high school wrestling coach with a sophomore wrestler who is an insulin dependent diabetic. He is under his physicians care and monitors and injects himself. The question is, are there others in this demanding sport that he could look to for inspiration and advice? He will look outstanding some meets and sluggish others. Any help you could give us or places you could send us for info would be appreciated.

Answer:
You should contact the

International Diabetic Athletes Association
1647-B West Bethany Home Road
Phoenix, AZ 85015

(800) 898-IDAA or (602) 433-2113
Fax (602) 433-9331

Paula Harper, the president and founder of IDAA, is diabetic herself. Additional information about the IDAA can be found at http://www.diabetes-exercise.org/
