Question:

I'd like information about the new study done in China showing effectiveness of chromium therapy.

Answer:

There was an abstract presented last week at the ADA meeting in San Francisco by Richard Anderson from the Beltsville Human Nutrition Resesarch Center in Beltsville, Maryland and his co-workers from Beijing reporting the results of a study of chromium supplementation in 180 adult type II diabetic subjects. They were divided into 3 groups. One group received placebo, another group received 100 mcg of chromium as chromium picolinate twice daily, and the third group received 500 mcg of chromium twice daily. They reported improvement in fasting glucose, postprandial glucose, glycated hemoglobin, and cholesterol in subjects treated with chromium. The improvements were greater in the group receiving the higher dose of chromium.
