Question:

I have a 9-year-old son with diabetes who uses Humulin Regular and pork NPH. I was interested in your thoughts on the new lispro insulin.

Answer:

I would suggest that Humalog (lispro) insulin be used very cautiously in kids, under the care of an experienced pediatric diabetes team of experts. Also, see a previous question about lispro.
