Question:

What are the symptoms of the onset of kidney problems associated with Type 1 diabetes? What should we be on the lookout for?

Answer:

There really are no symptoms that you would notice. You should have periodic urine tests for protein in the urine. In addition, blood pressure should be checked frequently as untreated high blood pressure can hasten the progression of kidney disease.
