My 11 year old son has heel pain. I purchased heel pads for his shoes (actually rather expensive ones at that). Is this related to neuropathy?

Answer:

No. Painful neuropathy due to diabetes in an 11 year old is practically unheard of. It's much more likely to be due to inflammation of the tissues in his feet and unrelated to diabetes. You should see a chiropodist [podiatrist] or orthopaedic surgeon.
