Question:

From Alberta, Canada:

I am looking for information on the benefits of running for the person with Type 1 diabetes.

Answer:

I'm not aware that running has any more benefits than any other exercise for people with diabetes. It helps lower the blood sugar and improve sensitivity to insulin in addition to the same cardiovascular benefits exercise gives all people with and without diabetes.

Make sure you adjust your food and insulin to avoid lows and always carry an emergency source of sugar.
